No. The app works fully without signing in. Signing in with Apple ID enables iCloud sync between your devices, but it's optional.
Photolog stores your photos and stacks in your iCloud private database. The data counts against your iCloud storage quota (5 GB free, more with iCloud+). Sync is off by default and can be toggled in Settings.
Yes. Your photos never leave your devices and your iCloud account. We have no servers and no access to your content. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Camera and microphone access are required for taking photos and recording videos. Location access is optional and only used if you enable "Capture location" in Settings. Photo library access is requested only when you import existing photos.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all stacks, photos, and synced data from this device and your iCloud. The action cannot be undone.
Photolog is free to download and use. We may add optional paid features in the future, but core functionality will remain free.

Photolog is designed with privacy at its core. This policy explains what data the app handles and what it doesn't.
Photos and videos you capture or import are stored in the app's local storage on your iPhone. They never leave your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
Each photo records capture date, optional location (if enabled), and optional notes you add. This metadata is stored alongside the photo on your device.
If you enable "Capture location" in Settings, the app reads your device's GPS location when you take a photo and saves it with the photo. Location is never transmitted anywhere - it stays with the photo on your device.
If enabled in Settings, the app uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to extract text from photos and suggest tags. This processing happens entirely on your iPhone. No data is sent to Apple or anyone else.
If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, Photolog uses Apple's CloudKit service to store your stacks and photos in your private iCloud database.
You can sign in with your Apple ID. This stores your Apple-provided identifier in your device's Keychain. We use it only to identify your account for iCloud sync. Your name and email are stored locally on your device only.
You can change any permission at any time in iOS Settings → Photolog.
Photolog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
You can delete all your data at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your data from this device and from your iCloud. Once deleted, it cannot be recovered.
If we update this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
This website (photolog.io) uses Vercel Web Analytics to count anonymous page views. It does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sites, does not store personal data, and does not require a cookie banner. We see aggregate stats only - total page views, top referrers, country-level location. Nothing that identifies you.
